Electronic music visionary Oneohtrix Point Never (Daniel Lopatin) has announced the release of his eleventh studio album, Tranquilizer. The project is an immersive and deeply conceptual journey that explores the strange space where ambient calm meets digital chaos, and where real and unreal textures blur into one "sonic hallucination."
The central inspiration for Tranquilizer came from Lopatin’s discovery that a vast archive of 1990s sample CDs—commercial audio construction kits—had suddenly vanished from the Internet Archive. This moment of digital loss sparked a creative charge, leading Lopatin to utilize remaining fragments of this lost sound palette to craft a work that is less about nostalgia and more about re-contextualizing "obsolescence as a vessel for new emotion."
